Entering British Rail service in 1965 as D6991, this locomotive was initially allocated to Cardiff Canton and renumbered 37291 in 1974. Rebuilt as a Class 37/4 and renumbered 37419 in 1985, it later served in Scotland as part of the Provincial General Pool before being reallocated to Thornaby in the Railfreight Construction sub-sector. After further service under EWS and Direct Rail Services, the locomotive remains part of the Harry Needle Railroad Co. hire fleet, stored serviceable at Barrow Hill. Renowned for its long and versatile career, it continues to be celebrated by railway enthusiasts and model collectors alike.
